Balkov Abbey

All stuff related to season one specifically

Balkov Abbey

Postby lunablitzkrieg on Tue Aug 14, 2007 1:02 am

...okay, haha, coming actually from Russia, I had to notice everything in the "Russian Challanges" portion of the first season. I could make a list, but the only thing I'd like to bring up for now is the location in Balkov Abbey!! I know that they landed in Moscow, but the Abbey is actually a church in St. Petersburg. It's the church of St. Peter and Paul, a pretty popular place for more religious people (and tourists alike). But yeah, it's a real place. Funny how they interpreted it!

A lot of things they had to change so as not to get in trouble, but I know they also showed the Bladebreakers staying in the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas, though they never told the name of the hotel and altered its appearance slightly. But it is great that they're using landmarks and all of that because it adds culture and history.
And it's funny you mention the abbey. An abbey actually is a church and Boris was an abbot, but what's funny is the fact that Boris represents how many religious people are corrupted and working towards eviler things.

LOL very true!! An amazing observation, hahaha.

Well, another thing I observed was the usage of Red Square, which I think was funny how they interpreted that as a beyblading area...
Which brings me to my next point. The Bladebreakers seemed to have arrived via train in Moscow, and were walking (Tyson obviously was tired)...which is very odd, because they ended up at the Fortress of St. Peter and Paul (the church), which is allllll the way in St. Petersburg. I really find it quite impossible to have walked that whole way (If anyone has a map/globe, I suggest you see what I mean). But who knows, maybe they had a lot of energy :kaiwe:

I really liked the usage of landmarks in the series, though, I agree with you Aqua ^^

Oh! And I also found it just plain HILARIOUS when they arrived on Lake Baykal (some refer to it as Baikal). That was the highlight of my day when I saw them land on there, I was like "That's nearly in Siberia!! Wth are they doing there?"

I really thought that was brilliant, especially when they all took their jackets off...oh man....

When you put it like that, it really sounds hilarious... xD But yeah, when they took of their jackets and I saw the episode from TV I looked just like this:  but with an open mouth. I'm sure that made me look like a fish. *gasp* I FOUND A NEW SPECIES!! :o *pokes self*

(and if some one didn't get my meaning it's alright ^^;;;; sometimes I don't get myself, either...)

Aww I'm so envious. I grew up in Germany but they didn't go anywhere near where I lived. Robert is from Germany right ? or is he Austrian ? I forget. Anyway, the castle looked a lot like the one from the village I grew up in--only the one from where I came from is totally destroyed. n_n;; And I doubt Robert would go for living in castle ruins lol.

for a moment
unbeatable chance,
for a moment
the world in my hands.
for a moment
unbreakable stars,
for a moment
you stayed in my arms.
like an angel you came,
everytime when i prayed,
guardian of my dreams
watching me when i sleep,
like an angel you came
everytime when i screamed.
time after time i lose again.
night after night i wake up shaking,
cause my world is breaking,
i'm fool enough to fall again
night after night i wake up crying
cause i feel like dying.

It was either Germany or Austria, but both have German heritage. You know that 'cause that's where my dad is from. And there are a couple castles in Austria, most notably Neuschwanstein. I have actually been to and inside this castle and maybe Robert has something to do with that :) Probably owns it XD

I thought he was German... so... we can't know for sure, can we? Or does some one have official info about Robert?

I'm going with German. From what I know about European history, Austria was ruled by a royal family. In episode 37, Robert said his family defended their land. Germany, in the medieval era, was separated by different kingdoms until they united in the 1800s.
Yes, I am a history person.

Either way, both countries have German heritage :) Robert's castle does remind me of the Neuschwanstein castle in Austria. I toured that castle a few years ago and that was fun! Of course it was a little more upbeat than Robert's castle, too, so... who knows :P

Robert's definitely of German heritage no matter what, though. Whether he lives in Germany or Austria, he's DEFINITELY from a German family. He reminds me exactly of my dad and my dad was born in Europe. It's actually kinda scary sometimes XD
