D: Bad images in my brain, bad images!!! I wonder if he was modeled after someone the creator knew, I mean, a lot of anime artists do that for their characters...

He may not necessarily be someone the creator knew, but may be representative of someone in history (like the animals in "Animal Farm" were).
I was watching a program on the History Channel about an ancient ruler of Russian (I forget his name now... I THINK it was Ivan the Terrible) who had these guys called Black Riders go around on horseback killing people and burning villages. Something to that effect. I don't remember all of the program, but the Black Riders had costumes that looked EXACTLY like what the guys in the Abbey wore (those tall, faceless guys with the dark clothes and hoods on). It was sorta scary...

*nods* I remember learning about him, he was married 7 times. (I just remember random facts.) And killed his son.
I don't think it is ever mentioned in the anime, but I wonder what happened to Kai's father.

Black Riders reminds me of Lord of the Rings.

I wonder how Voltaire even knows of Bit Beasts, did Kai get his passed down from him? Or is he just a madman?

He's probably a combination of a madman and everything else. I think Kai's parents are discussed in another topic (or maybe just earlier) but I would like to know what happened to both his mother and father.

well they never say in the anime. Must be dead...'cause if they weren't...it'd be funny...in a strange me-way...

Kai's mom: Voltaire! Didn't I tell you to stop trying to use Kai to take over the world?!
Kai's dad: No wonder he went missing for a while...

in the manga his dad just kinda up and left, and his mom is just boppin' around. She never seems to pay attention to Kai.

There's nada about his parents in the anime, just this information about the manga:

Voltaire's only intention in the manga was for Kai to continue the family company, Hiwatari Industries. Probably also why he had a son. Dranzer needed another companion too.

Yeah. Complicated backstories are always interesting - that's why I like Saiyuki a lot! <333

Kai seems to be the only mysterious one, I demand more mystery!

Haha, in my opinion backstories are only good if they're interesting. Some anime keep it short and sweet, and do a real good job with it (Example is L from Death Note). Some creators get a real good backstory in maybe one episode, not like 5 (example One Piece, Nami's past, though I still loved it!!).

I like backstories though, they help with the whole development and stuff of characters and sometimes the plot. :3

I hate when backstories are drawn out for like ten episodes plus!
Or someone just goes, "Oh. Zeo? He's an android." *O_O* "Yeah. LET'S BLADE!" x_o

I wonder why they changed the first season's artists?
Did they think cuter characters bring a wider audience?
*It had a huge fan girl audience from the start.*

Season one was definately the best. The Majestics were in it, duh!

The second season, in my opinion, had wayy too many subplots and not enough action.

G-rev was pretty good because they brought most of the original characters back. And Ming-Ming = win. ^.^

I agree. Season 2 had too many other stories, like Kiki said, and it also got sort of cliché with the whole "blade to get off the island" thing. :sigh:

I liked the Season 1 animation the best, everything flowed together nicely, but I DO like G-rev in both animation and plot. It introduced a lot more interesting characters, too ^^

TRUTH!

It seemed like season 2 was like...I dunno, a filler...season? I mean, there wasn't really a very important beybattle/championship, was there? Maybe my memory is failing me -_-;

but season one and three seem as if they'd be more coherent, even if you took out season 2

well, I guess season 2 could be like a growth season, like from young teenagers to more well-rounded teenagers?
