Takara-Tomy have done a press release for the new line of Beyblade products, Metal Fight Beyblade.
The link to this press release is below:
http://www.takaratomy.co.jp/company/rel ... 080708.pdf

Can anyone translate what it says? Thanks!

...and fate is disappoisnted with me because I skipped Japanese class today, so it hands me a 4-page pdf file with nothing but some pictures and Japanese on it, with no furigana to help me read the numerous kanji (that are still unknown to me). xD

Anyway, at a glance, basically, the article is a semi-detailed history of the Beyblade series - starting waaaay back in 1999 - as a toy line during its four-year run. There may have been reasons why they decided to release another line (the Metal Fight Beyblades) and sponsor another season after 5-6 years, since I read "Beyblade community no something" in one paragraph. My kanji recognition is still quite poor, and most of said paragraph was kanji. ^^;

Moving on...

At some point, the new Beyblade line is mentioned (halfway down the 2nd page, I think), and then details on the parts and stuff, and a new point system; still trying to figure out what that part says. And THEN, there's a list of the four 'starter' blades or something like that. Kinda sad that its not Dranzer, Dragoon, Draciel, and Driger... and it has me wondering about the characters themselves. ...W-ell... the blade names AND this line that read "original contents something" (which was almost directly after the target air date for the anime.

Question: should I post the Beyblade specifics and stuff? ...yeah, I probably should, since that's the only semi-coherent thing I translated out of the whole damned article. ^^; So...here goes.

-------------------------------

Serial: Metal Fight Beyblade BB-01
Name: PEGASHISU [Pegasus?] 105F
Price: 1,554 yen
Type: Attack
Dimensions: 32x10x32mm
Weight: 37g

Serial: Metal Fight Beyblade BB-02
Name: BURU [Bull] 125SF
Price: 1,554 yen
Type: Balance
Dimensions: 33x12x33mm
Weight: 38g

Serial: Metal Fight Beyblade BB-03
Name: SAJITARIO [Sagittario] 145F
Price: 819 yen
Type: Stamina/Endurance
Dimensions: 35x14x35mm
Weight: 37g

Serial: Metal Fight Beyblade BB-04
Name: REONE [Leone] 145D
Price: 819 yen
Type: Defence
Dimensions: 32x14x23mm
Weight: 40g
-------------------------------

I'm not sure if the numbers really are part of the "Beyblade name", but I figured it would be safer to include rather than omit them. The prices are there for anyone who wants to snag one (or all) of 'em. Apparently, there's a 5% discount if you buy "in bulk".

The stadium's kind of different, too - in that pic at the end of the article. Gyehhh.... I think I may actually have to go and ask my Hiro-sensei for help on this one...

So...yeah. phoenixmiko-san, hope this helped. ^^

Arigatou gozimasu, Kei-san! You did your best. Thanks a lot for translating what you could. It really helps. It's a shame these new blades are not new Dragoons, Dranzers and so on as you said.

Yes, the first four Beyblade are Bull, Sagittario, Pegasus and Leone. Pegasus is an attack type, Bull is a balance type blade (since this is a new line of Beyblades, they've renamed some of the types such as this one so it's logical to assume balance is equivalent to the combination type blades we know), Sagittario is a stamina type (equivalent to endurance) and Leone is a defence type. I got this info from beywiki.com and you can find out more there in the Metal Fight Beyblade article.

Kanji is difficult to read and memorise and I really appreciate the effort you made to translate the pdf file so thanks again! Yeah, it would be a great idea if you could get your Hiro-san to translate the rest of it.

These blades might mean totally new characters in the fourth season but we won't know till it airs in Japan anyway so we can only speculate.

It's still possible that the original cast will be kept for the new season of the anime since if you look at photos of the four MFBs they do bear a resemblence to Dragoon, Dranzer, Driger and Draciel, especially Leone which looks a lot like Max's blade. The fact that they have kept the four different types of blade that were in the G-revolutions team (Attack, Endurance, Combination and Defence) but changed the names slightly suggests Tyson and the gang could return. Here's hoping our old favourites come back as the main cast! Even if they don't, I hope they'll at least be cameos/make some appearance.

Pegasus is an exact match to Makoto's Dragoon Beyblade at the end of Volume 14 in the Beyblade manga so that could mean that the Bladebreakers' children will appear in season four.

^^; Heh. You're welcome (even though my translations wasn't all that helpful, but anyway).

The new blades are smaller, don't you think? And the launchers... I'm hoping those can still be customized. I got used to using my handgrip launcher with spring attachment (same one Kai used in G-Rev). And I read that expansion to other countries was planned for 2010! *dies* I'm not so much on the anime expansion, as there's YouTube and probably download sites; its the merchandise I'm after. I'm planning to get one for me and each of my siblings, and a few other extras for customization and stuff.

As for your speculation on the cast... it's possible the kids will make their anime debut. But its also possible that it'll be completely new people with similar personalities - hopefully with some changes. Thing is...I dunno which one I'd prefer. If its the kids, writers will have to explain - somehow and at some point - who it is the guys married. Except for Rei, as we already know he married Mao (a name that, interestingly enough, could mean 'rabbit').

Another question that sparked while reading the article - or trying to read it - since the 'face' (oh, geez, I nearly typed in 'bitchip' xD) has graffiti-style art on it rather than the pictures we're all used to... "What will the bit beasts look like?" I can imagine Leone, Bull, and Pegasus... but will Sagittario simply be a centaur archer?

I forgot to mention that the naming convention reminded me of Team Europe/The Majestics. I was into mythical creatures for quite a while now, and when I watched the original dub, I noticed that Giancarlo/Enrique called his bitbeast "Amphisbaena", as opposed to "Amphilyon" in the English dub. So I checked what the rest of the team called theirs and... well... turns out these bitbeasts didn't really have named save for what they're called in mythology - griffin/griffon/gryphon (take your pick), amphisbaena, unicorn, and salamander.

...okay that really had nothing to do with the topic; it was just something I noticed. xD ^^;

Yeah, the blades are smaller. I'm hoping the launchers can be customised too, that'd be cool. Your handgrip launcher with the spring attachment...where did you get it? Is there anywhere on the internet you can get it and Kai's launcher Hard Metal System launcher?

With international distribution for 2010, it means the products going worldwide not the anime. Or was it the other way around in the article? Because to my knowledge, it's the product line that's going global in 2010.

The merchandise looks good but most Bladers and fans like you and me are wondering if Bit Beasts will appear again in the anime since some of the graffiti style faces (lol I almost put Bit Chips myself, these new names for parts are going to take some getting used to!) don't have creatures on them. I hope Bit Beasts stay in the anime and on the product line! To me, Beyblade wouldn't be Beyblade without them.

I agree - if the kids did appear in the anime, there'd have to be, as you say, some kind of explanation of who their parents are and who each Beyblade boy married (like Ray and Mariah. Mao could mean rabbit in Japanese? Interesting. Mao means cat in mandarin Chinese, funnily enough.) I mean, they might get away with not showing Tyson's or Kai's wives by saying one of them died. They'd have to show Hilary though and who she got married to.

I've got to say, I'm not that keen on the graffiti style images on the faces. It's a shame there are no pictures of creatures. As for if Bit Beasts will stay on, we'll have to wait and see.

With the Bit Beasts in the Japanese version of Beyblade not really having names, you have a point. I don't think it's off topic because the English distributors of the anime and products will prolly name the blades (and Bit Beasts if we get any) differently like they've done for the past three seasons.
