i think the general story lines of the first one are amongst the best. there's a lot of character development that doesn't feel forced in any way..

beat me for saying it but... the development in the later seasons kinda feel a little like 'we gotta do something deep now, lets shove this in'
they work! don't get me wrong... but it's always the case that in the original series of something the general plot is thought up for that season, and most of the ideas are used there and then... because in the first season you've no idea if the network is gunna let you do another...

*sigh, i dunno if any of that made any sense ^^;
agree with ya Arisu...Since it is going to be the first, it should be easy once it is done. And with a new season, you gotta try to keep the characters the same and also try to connect some things that needed to be answered from the season 1.

And also, new good villains or conflicts. Now that is just plain hard...the 2nd season? totally hated the conflict..the only thing i liked there is when Ozuma and The Saint Shields battled with the gang since their reason is really cool. Needing to seal the 4 bit beasts. But the whole Zagart and wanting to make his son have real flesh and blood again is just like Astro Boy!

LOL i thought exactly the same thing! XD

but i do think having the saint sheilds was a good move - because it
1) gave a reason for them to reunite other than blading
2) gave opportunity for some really intense battles
and 3) brought in some history about bitbeasts that we previously didn't have

i still think the match at the old funfair is one of the best yet (that i've seen, bare in mind i haven't seen much of g-rev) i think it's when rei loses/gets back drigger? i can't actually remember ^^;
as soon as i can i'll get the seasons and watch them again, lol, i feel so dim forgetting all this stuff ^^;
LOVE THE CHEESE!
but not to the degree that it goes off >.<

i think i get your point...like since it is the 1st...all you gotta do is introduce the characters and the villain and that's it..but trying to come up with a good new season and keeping them all in check...TOUGH!

What beyblade needs is the 1st season art redone and a lot of media hype for it...Maybe someone famous could be a huge fan or something...*sigh* not happening.

I've never seen Astro Boy, so the Zagart thing made me think of Pinocchio (I wanna be a real boy, Giuseppe)

Saint Shields are teh <3 I now that one stupid Kai fanboy (Wyatt) dies in the original version. If there had been a whole bunch of violet, gory deaths it would have a better season. But then they would have been edited.

I beg of you not to befall such piercing words to the young Yuuya for he was the reason why Kai has truimphed victoriously against his battle with Goki.

Sorry for dissing Yuuya/Wyatt. He is a total fanboy though. Although he is kind of cute. He is dead though, alas.

Now for Tyson *grins evilly*

I did not think it was ugly.
I think the background artists were so wonderful with their trade!
And for characters? I wouldn't have them any other way!

Sure V-Force and G-Revolution made them "cuter", but if they didn't change `em I wouldn't even think about it!

:]

even though it's a little late to be saying so...Season 2 definitely gets my vote as puke animation. Enough said xD

hmm, I can see why you'd think that. But I think that I wanted to see the characters grow a little, you know, into the studs they are in G-Rev, haha. I'm a little confused on ages and all, because I'm completely blown away that Kai is going to be what, 21, next November?

...Kai's turning 21 this year? I'm not too sure about that...

On the character description pages in the manga, it's stated that Takao/Tyson is in grade school. According to my sources - one of them is a penpal from Japan who was also into Beyblade - Kai was 12 when the first season ended; 13 at the end of the 2nd; and 14 in the 3rd season. *shrug* Go figure.

Going by Japanese airing date for the second season - January 8, 2002(its the only one I correctly remember) - and using information from Aoki-sensei himself regarding Kai's birthday (which is August 2), I believe it is safe to conclude that his birth year is in 1989.

That said, he'll be 19 this year, not 21. ^^ Of course, these are only my calculations based on information I was able to gather (among which is the age at which boys start prep school - yes, 13, if I recall correctly).

no it did. They try to get in as much content because you never really know the reaction of the audience so you gotta think it's going to be the last season. But I felt there was really never much character development, even in the first season. maybe only for Kai, since at the end of the first season he was friendlier....a bit.

Hmm, well I was going off of Aqua's theories and calculations on the Bladers Forever site...and somehow it got to be 21...or something? I could be wrong, no doubt about that!

It'd probably save my life a few times over if he was 19, I'd feel soooo old if Kai were 20.

Anyway, I heard that in season 1 he was 14 or so, season 2 he was 15 or so, and then for season 3 he was 16 or so....and by "or so" I mean one year older, maybe, since no one seemed to be sure *shrug*
Because it was popular belief, online at least, that Kai was at least 1 year older than Tyson, and one of the earliest episodes was titled "13 Candles" (Tyson just turned 13) when it came to the US...I remember that much.

? Anything to build off that? I'm open to ideas.

No offense to Aqua-san, but her theories are just that: theories. There's nothing to back 'em up.

Meanwhile, you've got data - either leaked or from Aoki-sensei himself - regarding ages and birthdates (Kai's and Takao's, primarily); and according to that, Takao is 11, while Kai is 12. Shounen anime - the first seasons in particular - rarely have lead characters hitting their teen years; typical ages range from 10 to 12, as far as my observations go. And yes, Takao being 11 and Kai 12 is just an approximation on my part, given the range stated previously. You never know, they could be one year younger. o.o

In the original series, the episode titled "Thirteen Candles" wasn't supposed to involve anyone's birthday. That party they had? It was to help ease the tension, particularly for Takao, who was a first-timer at any official tournament.

As for the difference in ages from the Japanese and the English dub, I think it was to eliminate any problems with juveniles traveling on their own; I mean, you have elementary school kids without a guardian! The Japanese accept this pretty much, and while its plausible in the US, there are still some problems one may encounter. So yeah, the change wasn't that big - 2 or 3 years - but it did put them closer to legal age, at least.

Hm, I see your point. So that makes Kai 19, now? er, turning 19 in november, right?

Maybe I'm just a little crazy, but I could've sworn that Tyson forgot it was his birthday in that episode. Maybe I'll go look it up, because that just keeps on popping into my head each time I try and think about it. We'll see ^^
